Brief Answer:
Admission, Traction, MRI, Surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank you for the query and Dr G Stanko for elucidate history and solution. Your posting may be due to the inability of the medicines to control the unbearable pain.

This type of pain is most probably due to an inter-vertebral disc compressing upon the spinal cord and the pain may not go away unless the cause is removed.

Until you get an MRI and Neurosurgeon's opinion and further management the following things may help your uncle depending upon the system prevailing in your country.

I would advise the following:
Admit the patient to a ward.
Injectable forms of medicines, pain killers, muscle relaxants, steroid if not diabetic, lasix and anti-inflamatory medicines to reduce the edema- all will depend upon the personal experiences, preferences of the Doctor treating him.
Hot fomentation
Enema, stool softeners.
Orthopedic Surgeon /Physiotherapist / Neurosurgeon's opinion
Traction to spine by the leg strapping sometimes helps a lot.

Examination by the Doctor to see for associated weakness of the muscles of the lower limb/s, which may be deciding factor in early MRI and surgery if indicated.

I hope this will definitely help you uncle, hence put in a chronological order.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
