Question: I have a continual pain in my neck around my carodid area that radiates to my ear. They did an ultrasound and found a lymph node 3mm. Nothing to cause it.

Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/51 - continual pain in neck - around carotid area - radiates to the ear - ultrasound shows 3 mm lymph node ...
If the pain is present that radiates to the ear, there has to be a reason.
The most probable reasons can be as follows:
Some inflammatory lesion in the throat in laryngo-pharyngeal area and that needs an Endoscopy to see what exact lesion may be.
Another reason can be elongated styloid process causing at both the points as mentioned by you.

Please discuss these commonest causes of the pain as explained by you so that further investigations like endoscopy and X-ray/CT scan can be done to get a confirmed diagnosis and proper management as per the cause found out.
