Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Eye

Question: Hello Sir,
I am facing serious trouble with my eyes. 3 months ago I had severe pain in my right eye for 2 days, after which I developed a very big floater in my right eye. It looks like a big snake with a big round black ball head and a big tail floating in my right eye in my field of vision and also many small pesky worm like floaters which are transparent. I went to a local eye clinic after a week where they dilated my pupil and examined the eye and doctor told optic nerve is ok and told I have double vision due to squint in both eyes which is causing pressure on eye muscles and causing pain and told nothing could be done and gave me some lubricating eye drops like peg tears, pataday, eyemist etc which didn't work for my eye at all and not even diminished my eye pain. So left with no other option I searched on the Internet and found Activa Naturals Vision Supplement vegetarian capsule on XXXXXXX which had good reviews and contained the following ingredients: Vitamin A, Zinc, L-Taurine, N- Acetyl L- Cysteine, Grape seed extract, Quercetin, Bilberry, Lutein, Lycopene. After taking this medicine 2 a day my eye pain got diminished and the small worm like floaters are not disturbing my vision and also my reddish pupils got white but the big snake like floater is still in my right eye which is disturbing my vision very much. Even if i stop this medicine for even a day the next morning my vision gets clouded with floaters/ floaters gets returned. I am facing so much problems due to the big floater that I cannot walk in the street under sun , read newspapers as it directly effects my central vision in right eye, cannot drive or ride a bike as I always see that black ball with big tail floating in my right eye. And also I cannot take this medicine regularly as it is costly and not permanent cure. So is there any permanent cure ? As I am getting frustrated with this floater very much, it is hampering my daily life and work. I have found on the internet that 25G vitrectomy surgery can eliminate floaters and have less complications. Can I opt for that surgery? How much will it cost? And which is the best place in XXXXXXX to get that surgery performed? Some points I like to mention that after the floater appeared my right eye has got smaller than the left eye, seems like the vitreous in my right eye has shrinked much and my eye pains whenever i look in sunlight for a certain period of time or if I stop taking lutein 20mg and bilberry for a day. I want to get surgery done and have this problem cured permanently so that I don't see that floater anymore. So please suggest me about surgery or alternative medicines which can cure my big eye floater permanently. The big floater also gives a curtain like shadow in my right eye when i move my eyes as the tail of that floater is very large. So please suggest me what should I do.
I live in XXXXXXX Age: 26 years.

Brief Answer:
No surgery for you.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This is a very small innocuous issue which can be managed by medication only.Continuation of these anti oxidants is very welcome for your eye as well as your body.Since this helps your floaters,it is all the more reason for you to religiously continue withe treatment.Since there is no blood supply in that region, medicatiin takes longer to be effective.
Surgery is not a option for you.Vitrectomy is a very major surgery and has certain amount of risk and since you are young, has complications in the long term also.
We in our practice advice anti oxidants as well as advice our patients to ignore these floaters.
Continue with medication and you will keep on improving.Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.

the problem is that whenever i walk in street under sunlight i cannot see through my right eye as the dark floater along with other transparent worm like floaters blocks my vision. Its like a pitch black gnat with a big tail floating directly in my right eye which is very difficult to ignore. Also my right eye pains all the time when walking under the sun or whenever sunlight falls on the right eye. Also the tail of the big floater casts a curtain like shadow on my right eye when i move my eye up and down. i am really fighting with this floater as it is very big and it is hampering my daily life and work to a great extent. That's why i want to opt for surgery as i cannot live with this black snake floating in my eye permanently. is there any medicine which can dissolve the floater or so that the black color fades away from the floater so that it does not cast and black shadow anymore? my right eye has become much smaller than the left one.

Brief Answer:
Give nonsurgical treatment a chance.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.
Along with anti oxidants and multi vitamins, vitamin C in dose of 500 mg twice a day should start making a difference in 4 to 6 weeks time.Surgical option should only be considered after giving this treatment a chance.Once you are assured of the fact that this floater will have no further consequence, then consecutive treatment for 6 weeks is easily endured.
