Suggest Treatment For Severe Nasal Congestion

Question: I am having problems with nasal congestion- I was using zicam severe sinus, often( multiple times) the past several days. Should I switch to a claritan-D or Zyrtec-D ? I am not comfortable being a mouth breather.

It is understandable not to be comfortable with mouth breathing.

Yes, it would be best to switch to claritine D or zyrtec D.

Zicam extreme congestion relief or intense sinus relief nasal sprays both contain oxymetazoline.
This decongestant (oxymetazoline) can cause rebound or worsening congestion if used for more than a few days or if used too frequently.

It would be best to discontinue it for now and use the zyrtec d or claritine d or allegra d.
Steam inhalation , may also be helpful as well.

If you have a history of recurrent allergy problems, your doctor may want to consider the use of a topical steroid nasal spray such as nasonex, nasocort, flonase, rhinocort, etc
