Question: Hi Doctor...4 days ago i was playing football and while i was warming up i could feel that my right upper thigh has some muscle strain going on inside, i ignored it and started playing and after 20 min of playing the pain started getting worse especially when it involves kicking until i couldn't kick at all...the pain is still there especially when i get in the car and out....the area of pain where i can pinpoint is most probably in the Sartorious/Rectus Femoris (upper thigh towards inwards left side), the pain is there when i push my leg sideways onto a surface...There is no pain when walking and climbing stairs...any advice on what to do for fast recovery?

Brief Answer:
Muscle strain likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Sudden movement without adequate warming up can cause a muscle strain that results in a persistent pain in doing a specific activity.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomentation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not try to do exercise that involves painful muscles.
You should try local pain killer sprays. It does not seem much serious issue but pain should be controlled. There are good medicines which can be used for this purpose, your clinician would know a suitable match for you after examination.

I hope this answers your query.
