Question: I have only been on zetia for 5 days but these symptoms started immediately and have gotten worse. Severe, joint pain, a severe pain through the lower right stomach into the back. Stomach is so swollen can't fasten pants. Nauseated most of the time. A constant dull headache. I am going to stop the zetia today. Is that wise?

Brief Answer:
Stop the Zetia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

If your symptoms started immediately, correlating with the Zetia, it is highly likely that the Zetia is the cause. And yes, discontinue it and let your doctor know what happened.

It does not sound as though your cholesterol is in a dangerous range (before the Zetia). Unless you have had heart attacks at a young age I tend not to be too aggressive with cholesterol lowering medications. If you are a cigarette smoker, quit.

Here is a guide for cholesterol ranges. If it doesn't show up blue (linked) then please copy and paste this link into your search bar.
