Question: a few months ago i started having itching intense itching usually worsening during the night but it would still be throughout the day...then it went away..then a month later i started having numbness on my arm at night..from my shoulder to my hand..which progressed to my leg as well (right side) it was so numb , no tingling but just felt deadened sensation enough that it would wake me from my sleep and i would have to shake my arm just to know it was there..(i could still feel it if someone touched it though) recently i started having muscle pain in my right hip..now in my right shoulder..starting to go on my left side and last night in my upper middle back...my hips are extremely painful..feels like muscle tightness but i cannot stretch it to where it feels good ever...severe pain...i'm miserable and now not getting sleep at night due to the worsening of the symptoms at night..

Brief Answer:
Neuropathic cause

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. I doubt if the itchiness and numbness are related. The itchiness could be due to a fungal or an allergic cause. But the numbness is more likely to be due to nerve compression. Which nerve and where exactly it is getting compressed - can only be ascertained after a careful neurological evaluation. Vertebral spondylosis or stenosis are likely causes which could also explain the hip pain.

I would insist you to get a neurological opinion first. Based on it a neurosurgical opinion or an orthopedic opinion needs to be obtained. Physiotherapy and hot compress would provide some relief. Vertebral traction might be needed. Neurosurgery would be needed only in extreme cases.

Let me know if I could be of further assistance.
