Question: Hello sir,

This is with regard to my mothers health. She is 50 years old.

From last three days she is having acute headache followed by vomiting in first two days. Whereas today, the third day, she is having headache along with vomiting sensations. She is a blood pressure patient.

Her blood pressure has come upto 150/110.

So doctor has given increased her dosage of blood pressure medication tablet.. She is still not feeling well.

Can you please confirm that blood pressure is the only cause of her illness and please suggest how to proceed in this case.

Brief Answer:
If headache is persisting, I will insist that she visits a doctor...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

High blood pressure can cause headache. However there are many other causes that present with headache, vomiting and nausea. Therefore if severe headache is persisting along with nausea (vomiting sensation) and or vomiting, I strongly recommend she consults a doctor preferably a neurologist. She might need further evaluation including a brain CT scan, complete blood count, ESR and few more blood test.

In the meanwhile, she can start tab dolo 650mg thrice a day along with tab ondansetron (emeset) 4mg three times a day and tab pantoprazole (pantocid) 40mg once a day.

Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
