Suggest Treatment For Severe Elbow Pain
Question: If an elbow has been hurting and getting worse, despite resting it for 2-3 weeks, taking intermittent ibuprofen (couple of days at a time) with no benefit, what's next? I'm a lifelong rower. Consistent body weight lifter, not heavy weights. It hurts most when I pinch and when I elevate my hand. The pain originally felt like a tendon in the bottom of the joint issue but now it feels like a muscle issue across the top of the forearm.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.By your description it seems to be tennis elbow. Its primary treatment is rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen. If not relieved by them as you have sufficiently tried,you can tried other methods such as injection and operations. I generally give triamcilone injection locally at site of pain along with analgesic and rest for few weeks with good results in patients coming to my clinic . You can discuss with your doctor about it.
