Question: hi doc,
my mom is coughing from last four days and the coughing is so bad that she is not able to sleep.while sleeping coughing becomes more where as while she is sitting and doing some work that remains silent.it is dry coughing now.can you please suggest medicine.

Hi Mam,
I understand your concern.
Your mother probably seems to have dry cough.
This can be treated with antitussive syrups like Tusq D one tsp thrice a day.
This drug should be taken under expert medical supervision.
Its also important that a Chest Xray and 2 Dimensional echo of the heart be done, if the cough does not resolve in 3-4 days with Tusq D.
The above investigations are also important in view of postural variation of cough in mother's case.
The further management is based on the test results if any.
