Question: I was on Viibryd for my depression for the past year and have had explosive diarrhea the whole time. I have been off of he medication for the past 3 weeks and continue to have the explosive diarrhea. My doctor says to take Meta-Mucil, which has helped, but will the diarrhea ever stop and how long can I take the Meta-Mucil?

Brief Answer:
This could be irritable bowel

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. Vilazodone is known to cause diarrhea in some individuals. In most cases irritation diarrhea reduces after stopping the medicines. If diarrhea is persistent then that should be evaluated. Stool culture should be done to rule out any infection. If that comes normal then drugs like Chlordiazepoxide and Clinidium Bromide combination can help. The drug is one of commonly drug used in irritable bowel. If diarrhea doesn't resolve in coming week consult your doctor for thud drug.

Thanks, hope this helps you please don't hesitate to ask again for more information.
