Suggest Treatment For Severe Cramps, Diarrhoea And Blood In Stool

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: I have had severe cramping followed by bright red bloody diarrhea for the last 24 hours. 24 hours prior to this I cleaned up a flooded basement . Could I have contracted a bacterial infection? Also have chills, fatigue, and body aches- no registered fever- but I never get a fever. With the first episode of diarrhea the cramps were so severe I became diaphoretic and almost passed out. Diarrhea has slowed down in the last 24 hours but haven't eaten.

Brief Answer:
Yes, this is bacterial infecton. Please visit ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, this seems to be caused by bacterial infection like Salmonella or Shigella. Both infections are very dangerous and both should be treated with antibiotics. I suggest you to do not wait with it any longer. This might be urgent. Please visit ER if this is possible. Otherwise kidney failure can appear.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
It depends of your kidney condition.

Detailed Answer:
It depends how dehydrated you are and what is your kidney function. If its fine, oral antibiotics can be used. If not, drips are necessary.
