Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough

Question: For about a month now, I've had a hacking cough that produces yellow flem. I thought it might be allergies, but that usually goes away fairly quickly once I use the Zyrtek and Flonase. I have it all day; at night it builds up, and I have a lot of hacking in the morning to clear it out.

Brief Answer:
Allergic cough

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are bothered by a persistent cough. This cough sounds like it is from allergic rhinitis. You may even have a small amount of asthma since you get better after using allergy medication. I would recommend that continue to document your cough and correlate it with the pollen counts. You can find the pollen counts on the weather channel. Then you may see a pattern to your cough and the pollens. If these symptoms worsen I recommend that you see your medical provider. You may benefit from allergy testing. Otherwise I do not think anything dangerous is going on here.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
