Brief Answer:
Dose is 10 mg/kg/day

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

Cepodem contains an antibiotic 'cefpodoxime'.
The dose of cefpodoxime is 10 mg/kg/day in two divided dosage.
The cepodem syrup comes in two strength 50mg/5ml and 100 mg/5ml.
The average weight of 2 years old baby is 12 kg.
So the dose will be 120 mg/day i.e. 60 mg/dose.
I request you to check the strength of your cepodem syrup.
If it is 50 mg/5ml, the dose will be 6 ml twice a day and if the available strength is 100 mg/5ml,it will be 3 ml twice a day.

The dose suggested is for 12 kg baby. Please let me know if weight of your baby differs a lot from my assumption,so that I can tell you the appropriate dose.

Thank you doctor for your clear explanation and patience to answer my queries!! As a very last question before I close this discussion, kindly advise me how long do I need to continue this medicine for my kid? I mean how many days do I need to continue this medicine? Also I was giving my son ambrolite levo syrup - 3.5 ml thrice a day and xyzal syrup 4 ml once a day for the past two days? May I continue these above said medicines along with doxcef and after how many days should I stop all the medicines

Answered by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
continue the medication for next 5 days

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query

Both Ambrolite levo and Xyzal syrup's dosage are appropriate for weight.
In most of the cases cough and cold usually subsides after 5-7 days of medication.
I would like to give all the medication for next 5 days.
If symptoms persist even after 5 days or get aggravated in between, please consult your physician for clinical evaluation and management accordingly.
