Suggest Treatment For Severe Chest And Muscle Pains

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Feb 2017
Question: I started getting chest pains from the past one month. Went for a few tests like X-ray, ECG, Echo, Haemotology, CBC etc. All tests were fine and it was found that it wasn't heart related. The feeling I have is like a pressure building up in my chest and also it's like a tight pulling kind of feeling. In the beginning this feeling started near the heart region and used to move around my chest. Now it occurs right in the middle of the chest. Two weeks after this, I started getting severe headaches and constant heavy-headedness. Upon consultation, doctors said it could either be GERD or muscular injury related issue. The medicines haven't helped at all. The issue still persists. I don't get proper sleep at night as either the chest tightness disrupts it or the headaches prevent me from sleeping.

Other symptoms include weakness, hot flashes, muscle pain, lack of energy to name a few. Please help. My life has come to a standstill due to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also found that I was Vitamin-D deficient in one of the tests, and I'm taking medication for that as well.

Brief Answer:
What I would like to do is a 24 hour Holter monitoring of blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I've had a look at your history.
What I would like to do is a 24 hour Holter monitoring of your blood pressure. Your symptoms seem to me like bursts of high blood pressure.
Random checking may not detect this. 24 hour monitoring with a device attached to you may detect this.
I have had several cases like you that later changed to steady high blood pressure. In any case there is no harm in going in for a Holter. Please discuss with your doctor.

Hello Doctor,

I have had my BP checked at different times, and everytime it has come out normal. I did relentlessly ask my doctor if any tests are required, but he said it's not required. I have visited a cardiologist for the chest pain, I have visited a neurologist for the headaches and my regular GP many times. None of them actually want any tests done. However, I will consider your advice and discuss it with my GP. Is this the only test required or do I need some other tests too??

Anxiety has got to me so much that, sometimes I get thoughts like what if I have a tumor in my brain or some disorder in my chest etc, and if all these symptoms are occurring due to that.

Brief Answer:
I really cannot think of any other test that may help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I really cannot think of any other test that may help. No harm in doing a Holter. If it comes negative, I think you should try and relax and convince yourself nothing seriously wrong with you.
