Suggest Treatment For Severe Blisters Around Ankles When Diagnosed With Kidney Failure

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: I have kidney failure. Kidneys are about 33% in function. I retain water badly and have severe blisters around and above my ankles. I saw a Dermotologist. He gave me some cream and said to wrap my calves with Saran Wrap. That made it worse. Fluid soak through the skin and even wets my pajama legs. What can be done for this? Thanks a million. I am 70. weighs 265, 6'1" tall. Also, I have the onset of congestive heart failure.

Brief Answer:
your doc is right

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

You seem to have cellulitis with secondary infections. Your doc should carefully choose antibiotics while failing kidneys. You should wrap the legs continuously all the day for at least 2 months.you should remove them during night. You should keep the legs elevated while rest or sitting. These are general precautions. There are certain drugs that improve lymphatic function. Also walking increase the efficiency of calf muscles lifting away excess fluid.

The creams are temporary help. You should get 2D echo too know heart function.

At this time these are the measures.

Regards,
