Question: I am having severe acid reflux from being on a number of different medications, can this trigger migrane headaches and what she I do about my sore throat and chest pains

Yes, GERD / Reflux disease can trigger migraine headaches in many patients. Patients regularly having acid reflux have a higher prevalence of headaches than those who do not. Based on clinical interactions , there is a link between gastrointestinal problems such as constipation, nausea, and diarrhea with migraine headaches. For the acid reflux, I would empirically advise a course of a PPI like Esomeprazole and a prokinetic like metoclopramide along with sucralfate, in consult with your doctor. The sore throat and chest pain could be due to an upper respiratory tract infection and would require antibiotics after clinical examination and an x ray chest. However, an EKG should be done first, to rule out any cardiac cause for the chest pain.
