Brief Answer:
Rule out sinusitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The foul smell with a runny nose signifies either stagnant secretions, a sinusitis or an altered sense of smell due to a viral infection. Secondary infection by bacteria and fungi can also contribute to the foul smell.

2. I recommend a nasal examination, followed by medication for the cold. This should include antibiotics, anti-allergic mucolytics, decongestants, steam inhalation.
Routine blood tests such as hemogram and blood sugar levels should be done.

3. A Sinus X-ray may also be done. The nasal secretions can be cultured.

4. Upload the examination findings and results of these investigation for further treatment options.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
