Question: My 11 month old grand daughter threw her head back against the coffee table I think she hit right at the base of her skull which worries me she seems fine no redness or bump.
Isn't that a bad place to hit though?

Brief Answer:
Bad place. But force unlikely to be adequate to fracture the base of skull.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I understand that she has hit a bad place of her head. But if there are damages, there would be manifestations as well. The things to look for would be:
* Vomiting
* Unconsciousness or altered consciousness
* Severe crying due to severe headache
* Loss of balance
* Seizures

If the above symptoms are present, you would need to visit the emergency of a hospital with pediatric facilities. But otherwise, I do not think you need to get concened. It is unlikely that the impact was forceful enough to cause a fracture of the base of skull.

Hope that helps.
