Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

If you have a swollen red area on the leg, warm to touch and you have no history of injury in the leg, then superficial thrombophlebitis(inflammation and thrombosis in small veins under the skin) and cellulitis (acute infection of the skin) should be taken in consideration.
It would be really helpful if you could provide a picture of the affected area to give you a better judgement.

I know that this sound frightening but it rarely causes serious complications and usually resolves in 2-3 weeks.
You should keep the leg elevated when you rest (over the level of hips).
Take Ibuprofen for the pain and swelling. You can try Ibuprofen gel.
Compression stocking are recommended until the inflammation subsides.

Usually this condition last up to 2-3 weeks and the recovery is complete.Complications are rare and include :infections ,blood clot extension .
Complications are suspected when the symptoms of pain and swelling get worse.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
