Suggest Treatment For Recurring Pneumonia

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: It looks like I have at least six of the ten pneumonia symptoms listed on this site. I think I first contacted the disease on February 1st during a Super Bowl party. After three days in bed I felt better and thought I was okay but in less than a week I started coughing and still have it. This past weekend, thinking it is still the flu, put me in bed again. The worst of the symptoms has been the cough that is now producting a lot of ugly phlegm.

Brief Answer:
Better to get done chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
At your age (64) , lung infection ( pneumonia ) is common.
So it is better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
Both are needed to rule out pneumonia.
If both are normal then no need to worry much for pneumonia.
And in old age, pneumonia if not treated promptly, can lead to serious complications.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

Is it alright to take Vicodin until I get an appointment. Will this cough eventually go away if untreated?

What are the contents of vicodin?

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
Since vicodin is not sold in XXXXXXX I don't know the contents of it. Please let me know this.
If it is cough suppressant then you can take it.
If you have simple infection like viral then it can go away without treatment.
But if it is bacterial then better to start appropriate treatment.
