Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Stomach Discomfort
Question: Hello I just visited the doctor with on and off again stomach discomfort. We ran blod tests and stool culture. The stool culture came back negative. However with the blood test, I had elevated levels of Lipase 80 U/L (range 13-60 U/L) and elevated levels of Amylase 108 U/L (range 28-100 U/L). I apply and spray clobestal for skin conditions, my Dermatologist also has me on cyclosporine for the same skin condition. I take 100mg of cyclosporine twice a day. Additionally I take synthroid for a thyroid condition. I take 175mcg a day. First are these elevations high, and could my medication affect the levels.

Your amylase and lipase levels are mildly elevated. These are not significant. If the levels were more than two times the upper limit of normal then they would have been significant. I wouldn't worry about these levels

This a follow up to my question, I presented incorrect information pertaining to my bloodwork. It is noted on my bloodwork that I have abnormal results for amylase which is 127 (range of 28-100) and Lipase 115 (range of 13-60). I am currently taking cyclosporine (100mg) twice a day for a skin condition. Do I need to be concerned with these levels?

you results are still less than two times the upper limits of normal. It is not a cause for worry. In case you have persistent abdominal pain or discomfort I would suggest that you repeat serum lipase levels.And if high get a CT.
Cyclosporine can rarely cause pancreatitis.
