Suggest Treatment For Razor Burns In The Genital Area

Posted on Wed, 19 Apr 2017
Question: I have gotten cold sores for as long as I can remember. I've recently had one and used valtrex so it never went past the bump phase. However I think I may have touched it and maybe touched my privates. And yesterday I noticed a few spots down below. They could possibly be razer burn but doesn't really look like the razer burn I've had before. Can I pass herpes from my own cold sore to my gentials by touch or salvia?

Brief Answer:
Not likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is not likely to happen since genital herpes is caused by type 2 and oral herpes by type 1 and type one doesn't have ability to infect other places. So this is not likely scenario. It may happen only rarely and in this case there would be fluid filled vesicles just like face herpes. Wish you good health. Regards

I was informed when i went and got valtrex from a dr that type 1 can be past to gential via oral. But the spots do not look like what i get when i get a cold sore. And im not really having any pain. Just a bit when my underware rubs on the spot for awhile. Maybe i can over reacting. I have attachrd photos of the spots yesterday when they first appeared and today.

Brief Answer:
See below

Detailed Answer:
I don't think these are herpes sores since there would be some other features present.I don't see attached photos so try to put it again. It may be foliculitis, allergic rash or some other dermatologic issue.

Brief Answer:
Yes, I've seen it

Detailed Answer:
Yes, I've seen it and it doesn't look like herpes rash at all.

I think this is atopic dermatitis or skin irritation due to shaving.

You can just apply mild steroid cream (eg.Hydrocortisone) and it should subside soon.
