Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Buttocks

Posted on Thu, 23 Apr 2015
Question: Hey, I'm XXXXXXX from kettering in the Uk and I've recently noticed a flurry of spots on the outer regions of my buttocks, they don't itch but they are slightly sore, I was just wondering what they could be considering they just appeared. They are flurried across both cheeks but only on the outsides, I have put hydracortozone on them for the last week but no improvement. I have been on antibiotics and on the sick with a bad knee (had an arthroscopy) so I have just lay in bed recently if that could be a factor.

Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Please, provide an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi an thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this rash that you have reported. I will like to review an image for this so as to be very sure of what we are talking about. Seeing the image of a rash is very important towards making the right call and recommendations to get it addressed.

Given the fact that you have been in bed for long, this is most likely a contributing factor. I will suggest that you also change positions and allow this area to airy and exposed.Avoid very humid conditions that would favor rashes. I will also recommend you stop apply the hydrocortisone cream. Use baby powder to dry the area for now, only!

I look forward to reviewing your images and providing more information on how to address this. Until then, i wish you well.

Brief Answer:
What antibiotic are you on?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed both images. They are not typical of acne as they look to be more of blood filled spots. I will like to know the medications you are on right now. I want to make sure this is not the side effect of a medication.

I hope to hear from you!

Brief Answer:
Please, I am asking about the medications you are using now!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am wondering is this could be an adverse effect of the drugs you are on right now. If I got you right, you mentioned that you are on antibiotics right now. That is what i am asking after and not antibiotics that were used to treat acne. If I review the drug and don't find it a possible explanation for this, then I will provide a drug that can be used for this.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you!
