Suggest Treatment For Rashes In The Knee And Red Bumps During IVF Treatment

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Dec 2016
Question: I am currently on endometrin pessaries prescription for my IVF treatment with 1 tablet morning and 1 tablet at night. I am 4 weeks 4 days pregnant and possible twins.
Rashes started last sunday. Rash behind knees developing towards thighs with some red bumps like small blisters. The behind knees affected area are warm and sometimes itchy but bearable to the extend i do not need to scratch. When i use ice pack to cool down the behind the knees area, i feel relieved. but after a while it is burning again.
I have seen a GP that prescribed me with hydrozole and diagnosed me with fungal infection.
Need your confirmation whether I am atopy eruption of pregnancy or something else.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Looks like atopic dermatitis of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it looks like atopic dermatitis of pregnancy.
It is not looking like a fungal infection.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply hydrocortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily along with frequent and liberal application of a moisturising lotion on the entire legs.
Besides this I would recommend you to take tablet Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime.
This will relieve the dermatitic reaction.
Moreover avoid wearing woollen clothes in direct contact with skin, avoid using harsh soaps for bathing, instead use soap free cleanser, use lukewarm water for bathing instead of hot water and avoid centrally heated environment.

Dr Asmeet
