Suggest Treatment For Rash On Inner Legs And Thighs
Question: My daughter has had a rash on and off for about a year, it's only on her legs,it's on both inner legs, both bum checks and both thighs, also on her knees, she has little red circles, going up both legs at the front too, the rash is flat, not very itchy and has a slight pattern too it, it had gone completely last week, today she came out of school and it was bright red, it has since died down a bit and doesn't look as aggressive, it doesn't seem to bother her but doesn't look very nice, it's no where else on her body. It also doesn't feel any different too the rest of her skin, it is not raised at all.
Brief Answer:
sounds like ringworm
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It sounds like she has ringworm. Ringworm is not really a worm it is a yeast type skin rash that can happen to anyone. it presents with little red circles and is often a bit itchy.
Try treating her twice a day with a thin layer of lamisil (terbinifine) which is an over the counter yeast cream. it may take several weeks for it to clear up.
If this does not clear it up then take her to a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Okay thanks, can ring worm come and go?
Brief Answer:
yes
Detailed Answer:
It can come and go based on the degree of infection. Sometimes it clears up without treatment. It can really flare up if the skin gets very hot and moist.
