Brief Answer:
History s/o of psoriasis, consult skin specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks fo posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

The history of scaly red spots, silvery white scales, inflammation on forehead, cheeks, legs and on abdominal region is quite characteristic of psoriasis.
It is not clear from your history whether psoriasis has been diagnosed or whether it is being treated.
However, on the basis of history, I would suggest you to consult your dermatologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and prescription of appropriate medication.
In natural course of psoriasis, the disease is marked by exacerbation which does not respond to conventional medication but requires a change of medication.
There are certain factors which precipitate psoriasis like cold, infections, menstrual cycles in case of females etc.
The current episode of psoriasis could be due to some precipitating factor.

If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.

Dear Doctor, I'am not clear on your answer, I know the symptoms you have highlighted as I'am suffering from them and the reason I decided to ask question online was so that I don't have the time to visit a doctor since the rash that has appeared all of a sudden does not appear threatening. It is mild for now and I'am just concerned that it should not spread onto more areas on body.

Please advise what should be done to alleviate this problem?. I have just started homeopathic treatment 1 week ago but I understand homeopathy has nothing to do with allopathy.

Can you kindly advise better details. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Clinical assessment of lesion required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
Thanks for clarifying that you are already suffering from psoriasis.
Psoriasis has waxing and waning course thus, these episodes do occur.
However, prescription of medication is not possible without examining the lesion.
Treatment depends on the type of psoriasis.
There are various types of psoriasis for which treatment if different.
Thus, consult your dermatologist for further work up.

Thanks and take care

Dear Doctor,

1) What could have triggered this? It has appeared in the past about 7 - 8 years ago and lasted for 3 - 4 weeks and then went off, I'am not sure what specific medication was given as it was all over the place and a combination worked then but the bottom line was the symptoms subsided and all was well until about recently 10 days ago....

2) I understand that prescription can not be 'specifically' prescribed without examination however there must be some general medication external like cream/lotion or internal that is applicable across the board, please advise.

Awaiting your answer.

Brief Answer:
Treatment-PUVA,sporalens,retinoic acid steroids

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Psoriasis has a chronic course. It is marked by remissions and relapse.
Precipitating factor like stress, infection, drugs or low immunity may or may not be present.
Recurrence has to be managed by appropriate medication.
The general drugs used for psoriasis are psoralens, PUVA, retinoic acid or steroids.
However, the drugs which will be appropriate for you depends on the type of psoriasis.
Thus, clinical assessment is required.

Thanks and take care
