Question: My husband just found out he has prostate cancer, his XXXXXXX score is 7, what should be the best treatment?

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has cancer of prostate and to decide about the further treatment.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Is the cancer confined to prostate or has infiltrated to surrounding tissue or organs ?
2) What is his PSA level ?

If the cancer is confined to Prostate and has not spread beyond capsule of prostate a surgery of Radical Prostectomy is the best treatment option .Though he is over weight and diabetic the recent advances infield of Laparoscopic surgery and Robotic surgery surgery has made it very safe with less morbidity.

Other modalities like Radiation and Proton beam therapy have their own limitations and success rates on long term basis and are advocated in a situation if the cancer has spread beyond capsule of thee prostate ..

Thank you for your advise. I am sorry I forgot his PSA which is 5.3. In the next week or so he will have a MRI to see where the cancer is.
We are so worried, we would like to pick the best treatment for him, but after talking to three doctors, we were advised three different treatment.
Should we visit more doctors?

Get his MRI done to study the stage of the disease .Your uro oncologist will decide the modality of treatment after going through MRI study.
