Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Lump At Base Of Penis

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: In the last week or so, I noticed a lump at the base of my penis. At first I thought it was a pimple or maybe an ingrown hair, but now it has kind of hardened and turned into more of a lump, about half a marble size. I'm engaged and haven't had sex with anyone other than my fiancée for 6 years, with no history of any STDs.

Brief Answer:
sebaceous cyst

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have noticed a lump at the base of your penis that is giving you concern. Since the likelihood this is not STD the most likely diagnosis is an enlarging sebaceous cyst. They are blocked glands in the skin that collects waxy material under the skin. These are completely benign and do not need any treatment.

I feel I can reassure you that this is a common condition and should not cause you any concerns.

Brief Answer:
Do not subside

Detailed Answer:
A sebaceous cyst with not usually subside. They usually stay there unless you have them surgically removed. If they become infected then an antibiotic and drainage of the infection would be needed. you would know if the cyst became infected by it becoming pain red and swollen.
