Thanks for your query.

Whatever symptoms you have mentioned are suggestive of infection of scalp and also of gut. The white powder is suggestive of dandruff with the organism malassezia but can be mites like demodex mite, head lice, etc. Bad news is that the hair that have become grey will not become black again. We have to halt the further progress of greying.

My suggestions are as follows:
- Try scabicidal agents like scabigard. It needs to be applied overnight and washed next day. Take precautions that it should not be applied over face and especially eyes or mouth.
- Hair oil may be applied to reduce the dryness and itchiness. However avoid medicine use on scalp as it may worsen hair fall.
- Avoid anti-dandruff shampoos as it may worsen the hair fall.
- Follihair can be tried. Or plain biotin tablets can be tried. Biotin is a vitamin. While follihair has some extracts as well.
- Take more of fruits and vegetables. Clean and nutritious diet is needed.
- Get tested for nutritional deficiencies like iron, vitamin B12, folic acid, calcium and vitamin D.
Anemia may also cause greying of hair. If you are deficient, you may need vitamin supplements.
- You already have made the correlation with hard water. Hopefully you were not drinking the hard water. You should get tested for typhoid infection with typhidot test. Drinking cleanest water from an RO system should help with some of the symptoms. If typhoid is found, antibiotics will be needed.
