Suggest Treatment For Port Site Infection After Laparoscopic Surgery For Gallstone

Question: Dear Sir,

My mother, age 53, has undergone laproscopic surgery for gallstone. After removing the stitches, I could find a small hole opening of less than a mm exactly below ribs and cntre of the body, near gall bladder. So, how to treat this?

(She is diabetic and also undergone treatment for pyelonephritis.)

Hi.
Read and understood the concerns.
I hope the small whole is at the port site as you mentioned.
Do not worry, usually such small whole will heal on its own.
Just apply liquid povidone iodine 2 to 4 times a day.
If it does not close in a few days, consult the Surgeon as it may need a look at whether there is a small sinus.

I hope your Mother's diabetes and pyelonephritis are under control.

If I press her hole site (port site), there oozes out greenish yellow fluid, which is sticky in nature. Do, this is a natural biological process or is due to infection?
