Question: I went for a long walk about a week ago, and about an hour into the walk, my foot (only the left foot) started to hurt as my toes pushed off the ground. by the time I got home about another hour later, the outter bottom of my foot, next to my arch hurt so bad I was limping. now a week has gone by, I've iced it, elevated and tried to stay off of it. it seems better until I walk about 4 or 5 steps, then it hurts again like a stiff pain, when I point my toes down to stretch it, I can feel a rubber band vibration and a stretching of a rubber band in my foot. it also has been cracking after the pain starts. what could this be?

Brief Answer:
Can be plantar fasciitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the bottom of the foot that you have is likely to be due to plantar fasciitis. The initial treatment with anti inflammatory medicines with rest and cold fomentation works fine for most of the patients. Cortisone injection is a good mid to long term treatment.
Do toe stretches, calf stretches and towel stretches several times a day, especially when you first get up in the morning.
I hope this answers your query.

So it could be from walking for so long on the pavement/sidewalk? Do you think the "rubber band" pain and vibration is the ligament?

Brief Answer:
Due to walking on hard surfaces.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It could be from walking on hard surfaces.
The rubber band feeling is the plantar fascia that is inflamed.
Hope my answer is helpful.
