Hi
Thanks for your query on HealthcareMagic.

There can be lot of reasons as to why you are getting pimples. It can be either hormonal disturbances or a wrong selection of soap, moisturizer, oily face, dust, etc. Pimple if not treated can lead to scars like pits or black spots. It is important to treat first the pimples and then scars.

Topically you can apply clindamycin cream or nadofloxacin cream.
There are also various antibiotics available which specially work on pimples. If this doesn't work then we have retinoids which work well on pimples, but it has side effects and needs lot of investigations and precautions. Lastly, if nothing works then you need to go for hormonal assessment and get treated by hormonal medicines.

All this requires a proper consultation by a dermatologist. For pimple marks you can go for chemical peels with glycolic acid or salicylic acid. This would gradually reduce your marks.

But be careful not to apply any medicine on normal skin. It may damage your skin further.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks Dr. could you suggest anything for pigmentation patches too? I see slight dark colored patches (darker than my skin tone) on my cheeks and temples.

Brief Answer:
If mild then nothing needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

If these dark patches are slight then no need to apply anything. These will clear in a sometime on their own.

If these are prominent dark patches, then kojic acid based creams like CLEARZ or Kojivit cream can be tried. it can be applied twice a day over the pigmented areas. In addition , take oral vitamin c 500 mg tablet once a day. Also you should always use precautions against sun so as to prevent any tanning of skin.

Hope it helps
