Question: Hi, I am 41 and having tight foreskin which causes lot of pain every time I have sex. So after a small time my penis loses erection. I have to draw the foreskin over again and try to have another erection. Is there any treatment apart from surgery?

Brief Answer:
it is phimosis, non surgical option is there but surgery is the choice

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

You have problem of phimosis - inability to retract the distal foreskin over the glans penis.

Non surgical approach is application of topical steroids to the preputial orifice. When there is inflammation this approach works well. This treatment has shown a success rate of over 70%. The ointment softens the foreskin and is applied for 4 to 6 weeks. Once full retraction is possible the ointment is discontinued.

The best treatment of phimosis is a surgery called - circumcision. It is a day care procedure and you can be discharged on the same day. It gives the fastest result.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
