Question: i have been experiencing some rectal bleeding for 4 weeks now, it does not happen with every bowel movement , been to the doctor and he diagnosed a perianal hematoma which i have been treating with cream, the bleeding has sometimes been in the stools sometimes not , stools are either soft or loose with some diahorrea , bloods tests are ok and i am not anemic but blood has showed up in a stool sample which i handed in after my last bleed which was sunday past, i have been using the cream for 7 days now and in that time i have only seen blood once in the stool, i do not have a lack of appetite, or any lumps in my stomach or pain before or after eating, i havent lost weight either, doctor carried out a rectal examination and there was no bleeding present , or lumps in the rectum and prostate was ok, i have been referred to hospital for further tests , i am worried about bowel cancer

many thanks, do you think the bleeding has came from the haematoma and explains why it has been in the stools and outwith ? doctor has advised that there was bruising around the anus , hence his diagnosis ....would the haematoma be caused by bad diet/pushing ? i have read that it is caused by ruptured blood vessels inside the rectum with a build up of blood or a burst vein ? would it be advisable to submit another stool sample in a few days time ? regards the blood test, the doctor said that my iron levels had gone up since my last blood test, i have my blood checked every 6 months as i have type 2 diabetes

I have just had a bowel movement and the colour was normal , it was well enough formed but not hard and there was no sign of bleeding, thats been 4 days now with no visible bleeding , i am hoping that things are getting back to normal

I am sticking to pasta, chicken, brown bread, vegetables and fruit , lots of fibre and carbs which seems to be helping

the waiting is hard for me but i take some comfort from your reply
