default
Posted on Tue, 29 Nov 2016
Question: I woke up and noticed a rash on my upper right side of my back kind of behind the armpit. Sort of where the lat runs. There are a couple raised red marks towards the middle of the back close to spine. Its like multiple line of red raised bumps.

Brief Answer:
Please kindly upload a photo is possible and give some more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

It would be very helpful if I could see a photo of that rash. Would clarify a lot your description and I would not have to guess between lots of possible causes of that rash.

It can be a fungal infection, a contact dermatitis or other causes of eczema, it can be herpes zoster, or since you have scleroderma it can be part of that as well.

Is it burning or itchy?
Do the raised bumps have liquid on top? how is the skin in between?
do you have lymph nodes in the armpit?

Any other information you would think its relevant the more you will help me to advise accurately.

Looking forward to your follow-up question.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako

I have uploaded pictures from yesterday. Today a little less red. I have been putting hydrocortisone cream on it. Is that good or bad

Brief Answer:
Applying hydrocortisone is the right thing to do

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up question.

It looks like it is a cluster of bug bites. So I agree with the application of hydrocortisone cream as soon as it doesn't get worse and by worse I mean the rash spread in other areas, burning sensation or the rash to become with vesicles.

Let me know in a few days if you want to follow up or if worse or not better.

Regards,

Do you think it is bed bugs. Should I be searching for them. Or could this be from spider or mosquito? Thank you for all your correspondence.

Brief Answer:
Mosquitos bite in exposed areas in general.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

It can be from either of them.
Mosquitos in general bite in exposed areas, so it is less likely.
But can be a spider or bed bugs.

If you start having new lesions then you defintely need to look for them.
But if you have from those in all your body, then can be something systemic and that would be the time to seek a local doctor advice or follow up with me.
