Suggest Treatment For Persistent Rash Behind The Knees
Question: Hi. I'm a 55 year old Caucasian female, with recursive/remitting MS for a little over 20 years. The physical effect is minimal. Presently I use 3x/week Copaxone.
I've had a rash, that began in the crease behind my knees at the end of January 2016. I thought it was a heat rash. There was some itching, however, then it expanded vertically, both up and down about 3 - 8 inches. The rash was not itchy, but became very red.
Various short term use of steroids - cream, and oral, were used. Then I sent to see a dermatologist. She has done 2 biopsies, neither of which has provided insightful results. For the last 5 weeks, I have been using a steroid cream 2x/daily, and the redness has subsided to the point where it looks like a suntan. The doctor does believe the condition is immune related.
Just today I found out that I have tested positive for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. In your experience, do you know if that could have caused the rash?

Autoimmune disorders sometimes cause such kind of rashes and this is usually a benign issue. We go for Topical Steroid application and you did right and the same. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is immune mediated disorder of thyroid gland. It has not caused this rash in the first place. Although this rash may a consequence of the same pathophysiologic etiology that is causing other autoimmune diseases in human body.
