Question: Having pain and discomfort in stomach area since 2 a.m. last night. It seemed to start on right side.Have not had anything to eat for 24 hours. Do not believe it to be indigestion of any kind. Discomfort to sit especially but dull pain in other positions as well. Prefers to lay in bed. Have chills and clammy. This is 3rd attack in 2 months. Seems to last for 8 to 12 hours and then subsides and leaves. This time it has remained longer all day. Took bitters and it came up. Took Milk of Magnesia at 1.30pm. THru it up and whatever was in stomach at 2.30. Low grade temperature

Brief Answer:
Needs further workup

Detailed Answer:
Hello

thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. Most common differential in your case includes cholecystitis & gastritis. As you had multiple episodes so i would suggest you to get a workup done. It will include an appointment for a gastroenterologist by visiting hospital. He will examine you and will advise some investigations including ultrasound abdomen. further management will depend upon results. Meanwhile following measures will help in reducing the discomfort:

- sucralfate suspension thrice a day for 10 days
- take small frequent meals.
- take 30-45 mins walk/exercise daily in the evening. It will make you fresh, healthy and is good for digestion.
- Don't lie down immediately after taking meal
- raise head end of your bed slightly(by an inch)
- Eat a diet rich in fiber, especially from fruits and vegetables
- take dinner at least 2-3 hrs before going to bed.

> AVOID:
fatty & oily food.
spices
heavy meals at night
carbonated & caffeine drinks
chocolates

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Brief Answer:
Please visit hospital for further workup

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I'm sorry that you pain is still persisting. In this case you need further workup as mentioned in my previous reply. You need to visit hospital and get an appointment for a "Consultant Gastroenterologist". He will examine you thoroughly and will order some investigations including ultrasound abdomen, LFTs, ECG & CBC. Further management would depend upon the lab results.

Thank You
