default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: i am having skin problem on my head for long time. Earlier it was alopecia arreata, which i tried but could not cured.since it was in small area i left.(since 1996) it didn't spread, after 2-3 patched. I also have had Rheumatoid arthrities for which i took ayuvedic treatment ( since 1997) for few years, and it got settled down, and not taking any medicines since last 7-8 years, and not having any major pain/deformity able to lead normal life style, doctor said, as long as no flare ups/ no blood test and x-ray doesn't reveal any singinficant issues, we cam leave it as it is. now 2 years back i got block spot on head, which was checked by skin doctor who said it is a pigmentation and will get cured in 6-8 months, but it never happened. recent days i am also getting more scaling on my hair, ( dandruf). i feel it is sebboric dermities , and visited homeopathi doctor , who said it is SCALP PSORIOSIS AND Scarring alopecia. I am confused , what is exactly this disease, and can it be cured?. what is best medical treatment. i have attached 2 fotos for your review. How can one famous doctor tells it is pigmentation and another one tells it is scarring alopecia.

Brief Answer:
Possible Plaque Psoriasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can certainly understand your concerns.

I have worked through your query and attached reports in detail.

This patch definitely goes in favour of Plaque Psoriasis and Scarring Alopecia.

This condition is more likely to be associated with underlying rheumatoid arthritis, even though it's stage is quiescent.

Drugs like Corticosteroids, Coal tar and PUVA therapy can be the main stay of therapy.

This condition can be controlled, but not cured similar to RA.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.

Dear Sir,
Thanks for the feed back. pls. clarify the following.

1. PLAQUE PSORIASIS OR SCALP PSORIASIS BOTH ARE ONE AND SAME , AM I CORRECT, IF NOT PLS, CLARIFY BIT MORE ON .
2.SCARRING ALOPECIA (Cicatricial alopecia) AND PSORIOSIS BOTH ARE DIFFERENT SINCE I HAVE ALREADY ALOPECIA, IS THIS PROBABLY OF SCARRING ALOPECIA , INSTEAD OF PLAQUE PSORIOSIS. PLS, CLARIFIY IS THERE ANY WAY TO DIFFERENTIATE THIS AND PIN POINT MY DISEASE EXACTLY WHAT IT IS.

3. MY RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIES ( RA) IS completely quiet and no pain. BUT IT RELAPSES VIGOROUSLY AS AND I ATTEMPT HAIR RESTORATION TREATMENT ( APPLYING HAIR STIMULANT OIL OR CREAM ON MY HEAD WHERE I AM HAVING ALOPECIA SPOTS AND NEAR BY. IT IS SUCH A WAY THAT , IF APPLIED HAIR GROWTH OIL, I GET IMMEDIATE RESPONSE IN 1-4 DAYS , OF SMALL HAIR GROWTH INDICATIONS, BUT IMMEDIATELY WITH IN A DAY I GET SEVER PAINS, AND IF CONTINUES TO USE , IN 4 DAYS I WILL BE COMPLETLY AFFECTED BY RA, ON MULTIPLE JOINTS AND ALMOST IMMOBILIZED AND PAIN KILLERS WORKS ARE LIMITED. THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN I ATTEMPT HAIR GROWTH TREATMENTS. I LEFT THESE ATTEMPTS, after observing this for 3-4 years until 2007. SINCE LAST 7-8 YEARS, I NEVER HAD ANY RA problems, last year december 2014 attempted the same aas above, but same thing happened. immediately i stopped the hair growth treament. with in one week along with RA medications i was back to normal. The relapse of RA is spontaneous and cure is also spontenous after stopping the treatment. ( some strong relationship with alopecia spot and RA ). is the above phenomenon is KNOW MEDICAL CONDITION , IS THERE ANY DOCUMENTAL EVIDENCE/RESEARCH EVIDENCE or specific treatment option for the above mentioned condition is existing in medical field. pls. advise on the above i
PLS. ADVISE ON THE ABOVE ISSUES,

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Cure not possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I apologize for the delayed response.

Plaque Psoriasis is a type of Psoriasis which affects scalp.

Both Cicatrial or Scarring means the same.

Plaque Psoriasis can cause Scarring Alopecia. It is one of the causes for Cicatrial/Scarring Alopecia.

The correlation seems to be right, as exacerbating factors often exist for RA , that can bring disease flares.

Cure is not possible for this condition ie both RA or Psoriasis.

The only way is to control the disease activity by immune system suppressing agents.

Thank you.
