Posted on Fri, 28 Apr 2017
Question: For very painful tennis elbow, I have been given the option of having a cortisone shot or taking Meloxicam and using Volteran gel. I chose to try the Meloxicam and Volteran..... and now numerous people said I should just get the shot, saying one shot worked for them. Which is the safer option? Thank you, B P.S. The Meloxicam is helping withe pain a lot. But will Corisone be a 'once and done' thing?

Brief Answer:
Get steroid injection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

After having pain after so much time even with painkillers, I suggest you to have steroid injections.

Don't worry steroid injections are not as much harmful if injected by trained orthopaedic surgeon, and they are usually limited to two to three times a year.

Also wear tennis elbow brace.

Avoid weightlifting, twisting movements.

Apply hot packs.

Thanks,

Dr.CHANDER XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
