Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling On The Right Foot

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: Hello,
I've been treated for nerve damage in my feet within the last year. A couple of days ago, I woke up and my right foot on the inside of the ball was swollen and very painful. My hand started the same with swelling on the knuckle joints and painful to squeeze and make a fist. Not sure what is happening and why all of a sudden. I've been dealing with feet problems for quite some time and diagnosed with nerve damage, but I don't think this is the same problem

Brief Answer:
We need to exclude high uric acid.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, I agree that your symptoms are not related to nerve damage. They are suggestive of arthritis (inflammation of joints), which can commonly occur due to high uric acid levels. Please get blood test for uric acid tested.

Ibuprofen tablets may be continued.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
