Suggest Treatment For Painful Pimples On The Scrotum

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I have few hard pimples grown on my scrotum and I see them appearing since last 10-12 years. They are not painful but looks very ugly. Sometimes a white colored liquid gets discharged from them but not very frequently. One of them are quite big in size while rest of them are smaller.
Kindly let me know what exactly are those and how to get rid of them. Is there any serious problem with my skin in that area?
Kindly suggest the treatment at the earliest.

Brief Answer:
Steatocystoma multiplex most probably

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Welcome to HCM....

Thanks for clear photo of the lesions. With history and photo I could come to probable diagnosis of steatocystoma multiplex. There are multifocal spherical cystic nodules of varying sizes from few millimeters to few centimeters. The cysts contain dense cheesy whitish material. Skin of cysts look whitish. These are actually epidermoid cysts and are within the skin slowly growing retention cysts filled with sebaceous, keratinous masses and elements of hair follicles.

The steatocystoma multiplex of the scrotum forming multisegmental and multifocal tumors of long – term course are often hereditary. The disease is totally benign. It does not harm the general condition. Sometime the cysts might be secondarily infected.

The diagnosis is based on appearance of the lesions. I can understand your concern for ugly appearance of the lesions. I am in favour of removal of the cysts as early as possible.

Kindly you consult either the dermatologist or general surgeon. After thorough examination and complete investigations,he might plan to excise the cysts surgically.

The treatment consists a surgical removal of the cysts along with the capsule. It may be done under local anaesthesia.

The prognosis is favourable. When only the content of the cyst is evacuated and the cyst’s capsule is not removed the recurrence can occur.

I hope my answer would be helpful in managing your problem. Still, if you have any query, feel free to ask.

Wishing you early recovery.

Thanks.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your prompt response. Seeing your response, I could figure out that cysts are actually not harmful and don't cause any serious effect on the skin (probably lead to skin cancer or so).

Secondly, I would require your help on getting me the names of good Dermatologists and General Surgeons whom I can approach for further diagnosis.

Thanks.
