Brief Answer:
Most probably a lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/58 - pea sized lump under right jaw - painful - appeared overnight ...
Commonest reason is usually a lymph node and can appear due to even a trivial small injury in the oral cavity, which is not always noticeable.
I would advise you to consult your PCP/GP for clinical evaluation, actual examination of the swelling and the oral cavity,
If deemed necessary, he shall give you a short course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines.
Watch for increase in pain, size, redness of the overlying skin, any lesion in the oral cavity particularly teeth and gums.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early proper diagnosis and management.
Please feel free to give any feedback or additional information and ask for relevant further queries if there is a gap of communication.

Could this have been caused by a deep teeth cleaning (including novacaine) and subsequent gum scrapes and sensitivity? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Most probably, yes.

Detailed Answer:
Obviously yes, this is what I have mentioned above.
There is usually a focus of infection in the oral cavity.
Consult your Doctor and get appropriate treatment as required.
