Suggest Treatment For Painful Lump On Testicle

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: Hi 10 days ago my husband had a lot of pain and swelling and heat in his scrotum. To the point where he could hardly walk.
He went to the Dr's 9 days ago. Dr found a large hard lump on bottom of left testicle.
It was about half size of his testicle.
Was sent away with antibiotics and an appointment for an ultrasound as Dr didn't know what it was.
4 days after the antibiotics the swelling and hear andmost of the pain had gone. But now left with a very small hard lump that appears to be at the back of the left testicle which we are unsure of its attached to the testicle or not.
He still has pain but it's mainly an aching pain. And a feeling that someone is holding his left testicle.
His ultrasound is tomorrow but we are very anxious scared and can't relax.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
I will encourage you to relax about this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

From the information you have provided, your husband most likely had an infection. The fact that this responded to antibiotics is very significant. I understand you may be concerned about other possible causes like cancer. This is simply not the case. Cancer would not respond to antibiotics. In most cases, cancer presents with a painless scrotal mass and would never respond to antibiotics.

The hard tissue you have described is fibrous and caused by the inflammation that occurred. This is just a similar occurrence when you have a scar after a wound on the skin. You should relax and be calm. All is well.

I hope this help. I wish you well. Thank you so much and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Keep me updated with the ultrasound findings of tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
It is most likely and infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up information.

For sure, this presentation is more suggestive of an infection. This is not cancer and this is not a very concerning illness that may compromise the well being of you husband. Its response to antibiotics is typical of an infection and there is nothing else that would respond to antibiotics other than an infection.

Keep calm. Get a control ultrasound tomorrow and do keep me posted about this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Hi to your husband and hope to hear from you after the visit of tomorrow.

Hubby had his ultrasound tonight.
It was performed by a dr at our surgery. Good news is there is no sign of cancer in either testicle. The lump he says is coming from his tubes that have formed a tight cluster at the bottom of his left testicle. He thinks he had an infection just got to see our Dr on Tuesday to see what's next. But no cancer is present so we feel very lucky and relieved. We thank you so much for your support.
