Suggest Treatment For Pain With Lump Under Left Rib While Having Bronchitis

Question: I am recovering from a three week bout of bronchitis, and have been having pain with a lump under my left front rib. It hurts when i cough, blow my nose or move wrong. could it just be a bruised rib?

I am so sorry to hear about this pain that you have reported. I have reviewed this information fully and it is suggestive of a possible inflammation of the cartilage that joints the ribs to the sternum. I will suggest that you go ahead and use Tylenol and Ibuprofen to control this pain at regular doses recommended by your pharmacist. Without a history of trauma, it is unlikely that this is a bruised rib and that is why am more for costochondrritis which is relatively not uncommon after a bout of bronchitis, especially that caused by viruses.
