Question: trying to figure out why I have pain between XXXXXXX apple and juglar notch the pain only occurs when I place my head all the way back. When my head is all the way back and I press in that area the pain gets worse. The pain doesn't come unless I put my head back. I have no symptoms of any lumps or bumps. What can this be? It feels like a sharp pain and I would like to know if this can be something serious. This has been going on fore a few weeks now

Brief Answer:
Could be Styalgia

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I had gone through your question and I can understand your concern.

Based on your description, this could be styalgia. The abnormally elonged styloid process( bone) can compress on the nerve and lead to sharp pain. And yes they can cause pain in certain position.
However before we can arrive at this conclusion, I would order for a CT scan of neck. Hence I urge you to visit a local doctor or an ENT surgeon who can examine and order the scan.

In the meanwhile you can take analgesic like tablet ibuprofen for symptomatic pain relief.

You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
