Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Judging from your description the most probable cause for your symptoms is cervical radiculopathy, meaning compression of a nerve root in the neck. That compression can be due to a disc bulge or arthritic changes with formation of bony spurs compressing the nerve root an leading to pain

Initial treatment is with antiinflammatory medication, like Naproxen, Ibuprofen etc for the first two weeks combined with a muscle relaxant like Flexeril. A soft collar for a couple of weeks can help as well. If these are not enough medication for neuropathic pain can be added like Gabapentin or Pregabalin. As soon as pain improves and allows activity should start physical therapy in order to prevent other episodes in the future.

If above measures do not work some imaging to confirm the diagnosis and degree of changes is needed. Best test is MRI. Afterwards if compression is confirmed local injections of corticosteroid and analgesics can be tried. As a last resort when nothing works there is surgery.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
