Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Legs After Euflexxa Injection

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Aug 2016
Question: I had euflexxa shots of gel put into my left knee. I felt something running down my leg during two of them. A week or so later I had pain in my left calf. I put ice on my calf and when I took the ice off the back of my leg felt like leather and was extremely red. Now the back of my leg looks like the skin is peeling could some of the gel have dripped into my leg and was there some sort of reaction due to the gel and ice connecting. I still have some pain in my left calf and it feels like a knot is there. Is this reaction possible and what should be done?

Brief Answer:
Can be a skin infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The dripping of gel on the leg is not likely to cause a peeling and the skin changes you mentioned.
This can be due to a superficial skin infection. The pain in the leg could be due to a muscle spasm. In case the redness of the skin persists then infection needs to be ruled out and you need to start with proper antibiotics.
I hope this answers your query.

I'm sorry, but I wasn't clear on the gel running down my leg. I felt it running down on the inside of my leg, not the outside. It was as if the gel missed my knee and dripped down inside my leg. If you could reevaluate my problem I'd truly appreciate it thank you.

Brief Answer:
Can cause inflammation of soft tissues.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If you felt it running inside the leg then it could have caused a local tissue inflammation causing the tissue swelling. If DVT has been ruled out then oral pain killers and a hot compress will help in decreasing the inflammation.
Hope my answer is helpful.
