Suggest Treatment For Pain In Stomach Along With Vomiting

Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: Hi. My 11 year old daughter has been having sharp pain in her stomach (off and on) for the last 3 days. She does not have a fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea, she has had her period already, but is not experiencing this now. She has also had regular bowel movements. I am concerned what could be causing the pain, and what I should do to help her. Gas X doesn't seem to help. We have also tried children's pepto bismol. It is in her mid section of her belly (across where her belly button is).

She has been eating, when the pain doesn't feel as sharp and drinking water. I don't believe she is dehydrated.

No injury to the belly.
The pain is sometimes very sharp for a couple of hours, then she seems fine, and it comes back, and she's miserable. Release of gas doesn't relieve it.
Absence of food does not make it worse.
Her bowel movements have been regular. Once a day. Last time was this morning.
Last menstruation was late February and is not regular yet.
Her tongue is not dry and there's been no vomiting for at least a year.
She is not on any medications and has no known allergies.
Thank you for your response.

Brief Answer:
Give her decolic and pantoprazole.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your prompt information.
As you have told the history, it looks like she is having either gastritis or some menstruation related pain.

Give her tablet decolic and tablet pantoprazole for now. Get them prescribed by her doctor.

If it does not subside, do the stool examination and USG whole abdomen.

Hope this is helpful.
Regards.
