Suggest Treatment For Pain In Left Hip Bone

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: Hello,

I have been having sharp intermittent pain close to my lower left hip for 3 days now. The pain is located close my left hip bone, but it is not the bone itself. It almost feels like it is close to my ovary or colon area, right in the middle. If I apply pressure there is no tenderness. I am wondering what sharp intermittent (almost nerve-like) pain would mean and what the treatment would be if any. On a scale of 1 to 10 its probably a 7. And it lasts about 3 to 5 seconds when it happens. It happens several times a day and even overnight.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Intermittent sharp pain near the region of hip joint , following possibility needs to be considered

1. Secondary to Constipation : Constipation may sometimes present with intermittent colic pain.

2. Ureteric colic : There may or may not be associated urinary complaints. It usually causes flank pain which could be near the hip

Exact diagnosis will depend on further detailed history and substantiated by clinical examination. It would be very helpful if you could provide me with the following additional information

1. Where is the exact location of pain? Does it stay near hip or also radiates upwards or downward

2. Do you have associated constipation?

3. Do you have any urinary complaints like increased frequency of urination or burning sensation while passing urine or discolouration of Urine?

4. When is your expected menstrual cycle? Are your cycle normal and regular?

5. Do you have associated nausea / vomiting?

6. Is your appetite normal?

Awaiting your response

Take care
